On Earth As In Heaven

What if all the second chances

we long for, as well as the ones

we refuse to give, were bundled

into a family house full of many

rooms, door after door?

What if it’s not another place

up there above, out there

beyond, but another space

of being, another way of

existence next door to this one,

so close, barely out of sight, 

but distant in the great length

of its corridors of mercy?
