Sacrament Of Now

God is in this moment.
This moment God is in
the tender gravity of being
drawn toward another,
the howling ache of watching
what we cherish slip away,
the heaviness of carrying
what can’t be fixed.
God is in this moment.
This moment God is in
the shock of how wonder
leaves us unguarded,
the disorientation of feeling
small, but radiant,
the hunger to breach walls
surrounding joy.
God is in this moment.
This moment God is in
the sharp shadows between
gaps we leave in our stories,
the long journey of forgiveness
stretching beyond ourselves,
the surprise that renewal
longs to come back around.
God is in this moment.
This moment God is insistently
present in all of this.
