Sanctuary

Kindness is a warm chapel,
an unlocked entrance
against blue cold,
inviting you to stumble
into the essential light
of morning hues searching
out the upperworld above
arched window spires
before each newborn day
scribbles landscape after
landscape across your attention.
Second chances wake open,
drawing your aching life
with an offered embrace
that’s perfectly quiet,
never wary, crossing distances
to greet your story.
Everything you thought was
hiding suddenly appears
inside a moment of tenderness.
And God’s voice says, “Look,
let me show you how welcome
repairs this world.”
I pray such a door surprises you
with the largeness of its
uncluttered grace.
