This Stillness

at rest inside you
like a sleeping infant
isn’t just a happy gap
between the noisy voices
of choices and unknowns.
It is sunshine scattering
lessons about light
across meadows.
It is ground bearing
up everything.
It is breeze whispering
through open windows.
It is all there is now,
a string of living, breathing
this-moments where you
can receive your inheritance
handed on by the Calmer
of Waves who silenced
schemes and regrets.
Everything else is just a fragile thought.
Even when the surface becomes
chaotic again, what’s planted
within you soul isn’t lost.
May you live with courage,
not because peace is unshakeable,
but because it’s rooted and green
in your soul.
